Petals For My Tears

Wush! Wush! Wush! Erhi ran through the bushes like a madman chasing nothing, sweating profusely from the humid air of the evening. He tore through the winds, creating his own current of wind. Though the night was lit by a full moon, his vision was obscured. The effect of the moon on the green foliage cast layers of creepy shadows on the ground. The shadows moved with the breeze that shook the trees, adding more drama to that which was about to unfold.

The owls were hooting, the crickets chirping, the frogs croaking, and the buzzing mosquitoes had began to bite. The sandflies too were out and had shown his feet no mercy. They competed with the piercing mosquitoes for their stolen dinner. Erhi paused to catch his breath and then heard it again. Even in the midst of all the jungle sounds, some of which were unrecognizable, he could hear the voice. It was so distinct. It spurred him on as he made his way closer to the mysterious singer. He knew he was inching closer because it was getting louder.

He slowed down and began to tiptoe. He was delayed by the pricks of some thorny plants. They dug into his left arm, scratching through his skin so deeply that it bled. Wincing in pain, he took a deep breath to prevent himself from being heard. The spikes of the plants also latched onto his clothing. He gently peeled them off. He didn’t want to jeopardize his mission, so he took the pain in stride, dabbing off the blood from his arm with the edge of his shirt. He leaned over to the other side of the bushes to avoid the malevolent, bloodthirsty plants, and slightly parted a thick clump of grass. There she was, a divine thing of beauty.

His heart raced like a running car. His mouth, ajar, and his pupils dilated as if frozen by an intense beam of light. He was dazzled, as he watched in awe……………… continue reading in the attached link below https://www.amazon.com/Petals-My-Tears-Nina-Fabunmi/dp/B0CF4CXVB4/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

Wait Till I’m Dead and Gone

SONY DSC

Wait till I am dead and gone

For the only sure thing in life is death

Keep looking till you find what you’ve always had

You will never find again what you had already found

But by then it will be too late

My spirit will be flying high

Watching over you

Crying with you

Sobbing over your miserable life

My inert corpse will be lying in my grave

My flesh decomposed to manure

My bones burnished and white like the feathers on a dove

Only then will you be able to see through me

My transparency, honesty and absolute devotion to you

But by then it will be too late

You will stumble to my graveyard on your hunch back

Your crapulent bones, your baldhead and your walking stick

I will watch you cry over my tombstone

Longing for the life you should have had with me

And I will grow roses to acknowledge your tears

But by then it will be too late

I will float over you like an angel in heaven

And send a gentle breeze to dry your tears

You will dig your grave beside mine

And long for death to take you away

But it will never come when you want it to

One day you will visit my grave

And will fall right into the one you have dug for yourself

I will be waiting for you in the after life

I Will Love You From A Distance

SONY DSC

Our pictures are like pretty petals scattered all over the floor

Our memories are like stars that twinkle on a dark blue sky

You have walked all over our pretty petals and stained them with dirty feet

But when the sun goes down at dusk

Hiding all the days labor in a haze

Our stars still twinkle on a dark blue sky at night

I will love you from a distance

Because each time I come close, you burn me

I will make a portrait painting of you

And adorn you with attributes you don’t possess

I will hide your flaws and paint over the pain

And make you perfect in every way

I will gaze upon you in awe

And fall in love with you over and over again

I will make memories in my head

And ask for the mercy of the dark blue sky at night

So that the stars will always twinkle in approval

I will love you from a distance
